OK guys here is an "idea from mom" that actually worked !!!!

I use the re-fillable cartridges most mornings (its a LOT cheaper than real k-cups, those are for a "special treat" only) but have been replacing them about every 3 months or so due to the micro-screens getting clogged up.

Ma gave me the idea to soak them in double-strength cleaning vinegar for about an hour then scrub them with a toothbrush. It worked like a charm. They came out like new, and the bowl of vinegar they soaked in got used for this months de-scalling runs.

Since I keep 6-9 of them around all the time, thats about $25 saved this morning, which means my next 12-pack is technically free !! (just go with the concept, OK )

We use the "MY K CUP" with our Kuerig, and haven't had any issues with the screen getting clogged or anything in the 1.5 years that we've been using it. Our cartridge came with our Kuerig, but the My K Cup can be found pretty easily from $8 to $15.

I have one too, it has too much screen and not enough blockage for the strength I like. I tried the "cut a k-cup and insert it" modification, but it was still to weak for me.

With me, ESPECIALLY on those 3am mornings......if it dissolves the finish off the cup, its ALMOST strong enough.

These aftermarket things work pretty good with Melitta grounds.

Do you have hard water? Are you running city or well water? What about putting the screen piece in some water to rinse it immediately after use?

I've yet to have an issue with mine plugging up, but I'm only running bottled spring water through mine. I travel, tap water isn't an option most of the time.

Quite often I will make a "grab-and-go" cup when leaving the house, and those days the cartridge sits in the machine until I get home again then clean it. Thats probably whats doing it.
