So, my daughter talked me into buying some peanut brittle and well I took a bite and it won. So, now I sit here in a bit of pain as I swallowed a quarter of one of my molars. Anyone have a easy temp fix? IT HURTS!!!!!! and how much should I expect to pay to fix it. I do not have dental thanks to our lovely government killing my nice health care plan that I had dental with at work.

Ouch I would rather they just pull it at that cost. It is in the back anyway so will not effect my hotness lol

I wish there was something I could tell you that you aren't already trying . I HATE when my tooth aches. I can't sleep. I can't seem to do anything to get my mind off the throbbing. Eating and drinking becomes extremely difficult. Tooth pain is one of the worst pains IMHO. I'm not saying I haven't had other pain that hurt more or that I don't commonly have pain that is just as annoying and as much of a hindrance, but something about tooth pain just drives me bonkers. Here's hoping you can get to a dentist quick!

$400 to save a tooth is too much?

Aspirin, don't crush it, just hold it there.

If you just yank it out you may then require a partial plate to prevent your teeth from shifting to fill the gap. Partials and implants are likely to cost even more than saving the tooth. If your dentist has the right equipment, he/she can do a HD scan of the tooth remains and use a CNC mill to construct a replacement piece and attach it to your remaining tooth. The process is called an "inlay" and appears to work at least as well as a crown but at a slightly lower cost. It is certainly faster and mine was done in less than one hour start to finish.

I've has 3 of the 4 far back molars pulled. If it was the farthest back molar, you could probably get by with extracting it. I regret having them pulled as I now have 2 root canals and crowns on one side of the mouth that could have gone together to create a bridge/partial. An extraction will probably cost a couple hundred. Just look into getting it crowned.

If you have a nearby dental college nearby check with them to see if they take outside patients. My previous dentist estimate $900+ to have a crown done of one of my rear molars, but the folks at the dental college were able to get me in, do all the necessary prep work and crown for under $600.

Aleve or Ibuprofen should help.

Spend the money and save the tooth, and get some real pain meds. You will not regret it later. If you don't. the pain will either go away on it's own done that before or get very very bad done that too.

I need some work done but the last toot canal and crown I got was over three grand all said and done. I am lucky not so much and have these dammed hooked roots is why the cost. You will use and need your teeth the rest of your life so act accordingly.

Well, good news got into dentist and they are going to fix it for under 200 bucks since it was the filling they put in that fell out and caused the problem. SO, Wednesday I go in and they are going to rebuild it somehow I guess.

AWSOME! interesting that most went with a worst case scenario. I hate going in, not much scares me but I fear the dentist

They will rebuild it with magic and a Dremel tool. I hope it solves your tooth problem permanently.
