Linda and I have debated buying a truck for a couple of years. One of those " when I need it I really need it, but when I don't I don't, " things. Last my summer my brother Fred told me about all the work he had recently done on his 2003 S10. Everything that rotates under the hood replaced, water pump, alternator, AC compressor, new condenser, new belts and hoses, and the rear seal replaced. I told him when he decided to sell it to call me first. A month ago he did. At first I said Linda and I had decided not to get a truck. Five minutes after I hung up, Linda comes in and I told her about his call. She said, " Call him back right now and tell him we will take it. " So I did. He gave me a very good price. He brought it over from Orange TX today. V6, auto, 140,000 miles. Drives very well, more room than I expected ( never been in one ), very nice vehicle. Linda and I are both happy we decided to get it.

I have a 94 S10 SS as my daily driver. When I bought it, I said I'll keep it until it's 20 years old. Now that I made it that far, I'll pass it on to my son when I pass on.

I've got a '97 that I have had for a few years. It has the fabulous 4 cylinders of fury, but does the daily drive fairly well (as long as you don't need to be in a hurry)
It has turned out to be a decent daily driver, but has needed some odd repairs- like the water pump and alternator going out at less than 30,000 miles and the timing set needed to be replaced at around 40,000 miles. The New Venture Gear 1500 transmission gets stuck in reverse and it sounds like all the bearings are falling out of it, but I have already picked up a rebuilt Borg-Warner t5 from an earlier truck to replace the crappy original transmission. Since they have been around so long, parts are cheap at the junk-yards. Because I had planned on keeping it for a while, I grabbed the improved brakes from a Blazer (front 'truck' sized rotors and 2 piston calipers, disk brake rear axle) from the Pull-A-Part. I've already installed a faster ratio steering box from a ZQ8 truck and will be swapping to the larger factory sway bar on the front and adding a rear bar with stuff from the junk-yard. The quicker ratio steering box made a huge difference in the way the truck 'feels'. Not sports car like, but a lot more responsive.

I responded to your PM. I see you already beat me to the punch with the pics.
Mine was a ZQ8. I really liked how it rode and handled. (I used to like to whip past BMWs on the long sweeping ramp from I-20 to 75-85. )
My wife said that it rode like a ground slide. Worked for me.
