I do find myself thinking "Oh yeah, such and such is about to happen" but until I recognize certain events I couldn't tell you what each book is actually about.

Since you've already listened to them, me stating my opinion won't ruin too much for a second listen. My personal opinion is that the series was really good up until the last 3 books. They felt rushed, and the quality of the writing seemed to suffer drastically as a result.
