Did either of you read the book? I'm trying to decide if I want to go see this or not but it could be a major letdown after reading the book. The book was amazing but it seems like 9 times out of 10 the movies aren't as good as the book.

I haven't read the book yet, but plan to. I don't think that you'll be disappointed in the movie, a few critics while enjoying the movie, stated that they had hoped more time had been spent on Character background. However that's hard to do in a 2 hour movie, and tell the whole story. I don't think you will be disappointed, as the visuals are done extremely well. I think this clip will answer your questions:
i suspect movies like this would make me sad. haven't seen blackhawk down, either.
It's a humbling experience, but I feel a necessary reminder of real life. For me, this movie touched off a whole set of emotions hard to put into words, yes there is a certain sadness, but the movie is much more than that.
