If The Mall is the wrong place for this thread, please let me know and I will move it. I figured that it might work to post here because it's a selling question.

I am planning on parting out a Red 85' GT 2.8L. I recently tore down the engine and found immense scoring among multiple cylinder walls. I don't have the means or time to do an engine swap or get the engine machined. I'm considering parting it out before sending it to a scrap yard.
I believe everything is here from the radio and seats to the alternator and fuel rail.
Do you guys think it would be a worthwhile investment to try and part it out through The Mall? Can you make enough money from parting it out here that it is worth the effort? I have the means to ship just about anything from the vehicle and for a reasonable price. Please let me know your thoughts! I appreciate it

Once a thread has been posted, you will not be able to move it. You can PM the moderator and ask him to move it.

Nothing wrong with your post being in the Mall.

Welcome to the forum.

You are probably better off to advertise it locally, FB. etc. The 85 GT is not really a rare car, so most of the parts won't have much value, and a local person is more likely to show up and actually pay than someone on here. GLWS

there are no fieros in the junkyards around here.my options for used parts are forums where the seller may not be real, facebook marketplace where the sellers may not be real or ebay where the sellers are graded on their service.if its local i will see if i think its worth what they ask.

Doesn't help there is one or two individuals on eBay who skyrocket the price of old worn parts and make them completely inaccessible. Hence why you see the same parts for years on there. Ridiculous how many scammers are just waiting to take advantage of you.

How's the condition of the rest of the car as a whole? I often try encourage people to sell the car whole if in good condition (especially if only the engine/transmission is bad). There are many that would like a good shell for an engine swap. The downside you may not get as much as parting out, but parting out can take much longer and have to deal with shipping, bargaining, and even time to pull parts.

The Mall is still a great place to part out a car but would encourage multiple pictures of the car (inside and out) so people have an idea of what is available. Will also have to occasionally bump your thread to keep it on the front page.
