I am temped to drive to Charlotte and look at the vehicle since it is only about 100 miles from me. However, I still think that it is overpriced for what it is (especially with a salvage title).
Yes it is a salvage title. Car slid off the road and tore up the passengers side front quarter fiberglass. Does the insurance company want to fix it? No way. Does that depreciate the value? Yes- a little bit. Damage is to the fiberglass only. A full front clip is available and simply bolts on if you don't have fiberglass repair experience. (a Corvette or boat guy can repair it)
I displayed the car this past weekend at the Charlotte AutoFair. It got tons of looks- even with the minor front clip damage. Wish I had $1 for every picture that was taken of it.
Cars are a hobby for me. This is my 3rd Fiero. I've spent many hours restoring this car to it's original glory. Everything works and it runs and drives great. Where it goes next is up to the new owner. (Remove the Ferrari badges and make it a true Mera or drop in an L67 and make it perform like a real 308)
The car is worth what the market will bear. I've been very transparent and posted over a hundred hi-res pictures of the car.
Mara badges are easy to replicate. http://www.billetbadges.com can reproduce the front bumper badge. M E R A letters for the trunk lid can be cut from a GRAND AM SE.
At one point I thought about going the MERA route. I have a set of Fiero seats ready for recovering along with a Formula steering wheel.
I also have a spare Fiero hood to bond to a new hood. (reproduction fiberglass parts are available. I have a contact who claims to have a set of the original MERA molds)
I'll include whatever parts I have with the purchase.
For what it is worth, the Grand AM SE letters are in very short supply. Between John and myself, most of the available ones were purchased a couple of years ago. I have not looked recently so maybe some more have surfaced. The Billet Badges people do good work but I do not remember seeing ant MERA nose badges from them. One of our PFF members had some 87 and 88 reproduction nose badges made but they were all sold to the best of my knowledge. Some of the badges were fairly accurate and others were not. I still have one original 87 nose badge but would like to figure out how to polish the existing badge and use it after repainting an 87 Mera.

It is my understanding that Ferrari staff witnessed the destruction of the original Mera molds but maybe there was another set stored somewhere else.
Just FYI...EVM_Rob recreated the molds and will sells them.
That may be correct but there are/may be some differences in sizing for specific components. As an example, Rob sent me the base for a tail light lens and the OEM Mera lenses will not fit on his base.
