tackled all the brake cables today , replaced both rear callipers / pads / hoses/ rotors. everything went pretty OK... was nice weather to wrench with the garage door open. will bleed and adjust tomorrow.
now , silly question ... i went to replace the leather handle boot with the new one from fiero store and i cant figure out how its supposed to sit in the trim opening or how it attaches! seems stupid , but no way i tried looked correct. does somebody have the quick and dirty advice? i tried searching with different work combos etc etc. that trim opening has a couple of tabs on the inboard side un the bottom , but it doesnt seem like the metal base frame of the boot would go under those...
strange

If I remember correctly, those two tabs go through a couple of slots in the base.

[EDIT] Turns out my memory is excellent. I found an image online that shows the slots.

looks like the fiero store replacement doesnt have those slots, but i get the picture now. maybe ill cut some in or see how if fits just over the metal frame.

Yeah, it's by far mostly a good group. Stay out of the Politics & Religion section and your experience here will be just fine.

The Fiero Store one does not have those slots, but I simply took the original and put it up next to it, and then cut slots in the new one where it lined up.

Unfortunately though, the design of the Fiero panel itself isn't all that great, and I haven't seen any Fieros where the two prongs in the panel actuually go into it. Most times, the whole thing just drops back and you can see in there. I'm almost wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to bend the metal brackets so that it pushes that side up a bit. Just a thought...
