Hey all, so my fuel gauge is currently very screwed up, it sits here: And I measured the resistance between the pink/purple wire and the black on and got 1.365k Ohms (yes I read it correctly, and will happily remeasure and take a picture this time if anyone would like). So then I tried jumpering a couple wires (can't remember the post ATM, if I find it again I'll link it below) that is supposed to make the gauge fall to empty and instead it jumped to here: So now I'm really stumped, should I just bite the bullet and order a new sender and replace it or is there anything I can test/try first?
P.S. the fuel gauge was working fine till the last time I filled up the tank and that's when it decided to read way over and get stuck, maybe the issue is with the fuel gauge itself and not in the tank?

try using resistors directly on the gauge wires to simulate a empty tank and if that doesnt work then the gauge might be bad
I'll double check this afternoon, but the other day it was 1.365k ohms. Which I know is WAY the heck off.
that would mean its completely empty plus some. so yeah its probably broken which on a gm product isnt unusual edit:brain dumb. thats hilariously out of spec. you sure you haven't hooked the fuel sending wires to a cup of salt water? joking

Not that I am aware of lol, do you know where the best place to get one is? and if I'm dropping the tank for that anyway, what else should I do while I am in there? easy way to test if my fuel pump is good?

i have heard ok things about the fiero store sending unit but rodneydickman.com 's sender repair kit is better. you can also use generic amazon senders and theres a few write ups there and as for the fuel pump you need a functional checkvalve in it (cant blow back through it) and it makes proper pressure
