I wonder if the performance sound switch can be modified to work with aftermarket amps. I have a dial on my aftermarket and it would be fun to try and adapt it one day.
I just wired up my sub yesterday. It sounds good. |

The subwoofer is mono, but if I understand it correctly, it's literally pulling the lower frequencies from each channel that are normally filtered out by the stereo. Most factory stereos reduce the lower and higher frequencies beyond a threshold in order to protect the factory speakers from breaking.
But with the AMP, I'm not sure I really understand how it does this, especially if the stereo has already filtered out those frequencies, but it restores those frequencies so the subwoofer can take full advantage of it. The reason why it has both front and both rear channels I suspect has nothing to do with the rear speakers getting something the fronts aren't (like surround sound or anything), and far more to do with if you have the FADE set to front or back, so it properly equalizes the input.
