Can anyone please tell me what this small plate is on the back of my 3800 Series 3 SC Intake Manifold? I have been chasing a vacuum leak in this area (using a smoke machine) thinking it was the SC gasket but now wondering if the problem is with this plate with a small gap into the intake. Could this be my vac leak? Does show blow by marks. Also, this is a crate motor (I purchased from Chevy Dealership in ’07 and installed in my ’87 GT) so I would think it came from the factory like this as that plate is tightly secured with sealant in that position on the intake. Thanks!

No, now remember shop that installed my motor deleted the EGR valve. Obviously they didn't do a very good job but easy to fix. Thanks for your info!

This is the way the EGR passageway to the manifold is usually blocked.
