The calipers are brand new cast ones from china. When I get some time (probably this weekend) I’m gonna put that OEM master I got from Lucas back together and try it out. If that doesn’t work I’m gonna try reinstalling old calipers.
i wish you luck, i gotta unbury mine from the mud finally since somebody stole my new gt dash out of it and im gonna find it.
So, interesting development. When we were “bench” bleeding a master cylinder (on the car) we discovered that the front circuit doesn’t push fluid for the full pedal stroke. You get about halfway down on the pedal and the front will stop flowing. Similarly, on the way up, it won’t begin to suck fluid back up the tube until you get about halfway, then it works for the remainder of the way up. The back circuit works fine it seems, pushes and pulls fluid full pedal stroke.

oh yeah i forgot you cant bleed gm master cylinders with full strokes either... its always the first half inch and last half inch, your sounds much weirder and exactly like that gt that was giving me trouble which i dont remember how or if we ever fixed that
I admit defeat. I have been bested by the fickle mistress that is this car’s brake system. I had her towed to a local shop today. It’s their problem now. They’re gonna have a look at it Wednesday I think. Good luck I say. I don’t know what would feel worse, if they called me and said it was something like stupid easy or if they said we can’t figure out what’s wrong with it either.

i think ya just got unlucky with parts and problems, lord knows the 88 is kicking the new owners teeth in lol. i warned her to be careful when replacing parts and now shes chasing problems just like you were and im probably gonna have to sit there and figure it out for her....after the 87s engine stops randomly changing the timing without the distributor being moved
It is done. Bad reman booster. I brought them the old one, they installed it, and now it works. Kinda. Brakes are still pretty spongy but the car stops.

spongy means air or another bad booster. you could check by pulling the vaccum line and trying it to see if the pedal gets alot stiffer. most of my fieros have dead boosters so its a real chore to stop and i havent gotten around to ordering 8 s10 boosters yet, (high failure rate)
