ive really been wanting to get a special dash in my fiero and while i adore my s10s digital dash i would like a corvette one in my fiero and to use something the same style for the rally package (probably the modified center pod from a vette.)
i wasnt able to find much on anything having to do with swaps especially the speedometer stuff.
i do have a fever dream for this in the works but its gonna be awhile before i get a working concept that looks right and is modular
any information is helpful but its really the sine wave speedo output im stuck on

well i got the information i needed from him and a few other sources so now its parts selection for my custom rally gauges and maybe just a full custom dash too. its gonna look just like the vette dash but should be able to be changed.
kind of a hybrid with a tint/ blackout overlay over a hd led screen that displays everything the stock dash does, rally gauge will be a full digital speedometer, volt, oil pressure and maybe even water pressure

Pi is plenty strong enough to run a dash. All it is doing is displaying the information that it is given. The issue is getting the information to the PiDash. Standalone ecus are fairly easy to do this with as they are almost just a plug and play. You could do this with an OBD2 with a reader as well. It's the older stuff that gets tricky to do in digital

im attempting to use the stock ecu but i want it to run 3 displays and it unfortunately has to calculate a fuel economy with information i give it for my rally gauges.
im definitely still gonna build that but i might end up putting a vette dash in anyways for the real vintage look

There is no signal for the dash that is processed by the stock ECU.
Every signal the dash receives for instrumentation is direct wired to the sensor that provides the signal.

The only exceptions are for UPSHIFT and SERVICE ENGINE SOON that are fed from the stock ECU.

i would like to point out i was wanting to use a 2nd pi to calculate the SEPERATE rally dash for average fuel economy and possibly a switching 0.60 and afr since im not able to afford a ecu swap at current moment. mine works fine and for the features i was wanting to implement its easier to just have 2 pi separately do their own thing. again i may end up just buying a corvette oem gauge cluster since im unsure if i can replicate the look exactly with conventional displays. im very anal about wanting it to be very very hard to tell apart if you held them side by side because of my s10s digital dash.
you might wonder why I don't use another one of those and its because i own a fiero and dont want it to be the same as my s10, i specificly got a cream and beige interior out of a 85 and 86 for this reason

while that was a helpful website for a different project (rslly ford focus)
it unfortunately isnt what im after. ill show you what i really want to recreate for my special little basketcase of a 87 gt

i have wanted one of these since i traded the worlds worst and cheapest c4 vette (with the factory handling, digital dash and abs systems i should have gutted) for the weirdest 84 fiero i could find. (had everything from the factory to BE an indy but the wheels, seats and decal.)
