Hey guys... my daughter and I are going to do some repairs on the underside of her trunklid. It looks like it was damaged at some point... the fiberglass shouldn't be hard to do, but the question I have is... what paint do you guys use on the underside? We'd like to repaint the underside with the correct black paint, but I'm not sure what everyone uses.

Anyone ever repainted the black part of the trunk and hood and want to share what paint you've used?

Thank you!

At the time I did my car with "rattle cans" in satin black.
It still looks OK many years later.😉

Wanted to provide an update to this in case anyone finds this thread and wants to know what it looks like... it's not a great picture, but I'll take another when it's on the car.

Note, the paint is fantastic, but the spray nozzle is not very good. Cheap nozzle, and you have to apply a lot of pressure. The paint goes on blotchy (as if you sneezed onto a mirror) and makes you think you need to apply more or that it's going to look like **** , but dries totally smooth with a satin finish... it looks fantastic.

If you don't have one, get a spray can handle from Ace Hardware. It makes painting with a rattle can so much easier and your finger will thank you.

How do you like using those? I had one a while back, and maybe mine was cheap, but I felt like I somewhat lacked control of the spray can.

I bought the one I have at Ace Hardware and I am happy with way it feels. I always use it, I painted both bumpers, the windshield cowl panel and all the plastic interior pieces for my Mera with it and the end result is great.

If you happen to get one of the larger diameter pray can nozzles, the handle pictured will not work. I used the nozzle trigger many times in the past but it will not work with certain cans that are on the market now. Make certain that whatever you get is compatible with the paint can nozzle.
