Hours of reading various swap threads regarding axles here and on other forums has left me with an aching head. DISCLAIMER/RANT: this question is dealing with the 4T65E transaxle- NOT the 4T65E-HD. I don't have a 4T65E-HD and so I'm not interested in how to modify axles for a 4T65E-HD. Such information, while interesting, is useless to me. Therefore, unless you are specifically talking about a plain-old, non-HD 4T65E, please just have a sandwich or something and don't reply. Lots of threads start out talking about the 4T65E but then someone jumps in talking about the HD version which I understand is different than the non HD version and then things get conflicted and confusing. Also, my question assumes that the transmission is appropriately located east to west in the cradle.
So in the interest of clarity, perhaps someone here can definitively answer just this, and only this:
True or False: A driver side stock automatic (TH125) Fiero axle will fit the driver side of the 4T65E without modification?

Please accept my apologies, guys- apparently my attempt at humor was an utter fail. However, my question remains and if anyone has any experience with this particular transmission, I would be grateful.
I have not tried a Fiero auto driver side axle in a 4T65.
But, it does fit with a 4T60, 4T60E and 4T65EHD.
GM is known for reusing designs, so I would not doubt that it also fits the 4T65.......
So after much more reading, it would appear that you're right- it does. And it looks like the passenger side of the 4T65e will require a late 80's Pontiac 6000 left side 4spd auto axle.
