I don't know how helpful this will be... but there's some discussion about it in this "adding power windows" page on the Fiero Online Service Guide:

https://www.pontiacperforma.../OSG/mod.add.PW.html

Bottom line, the old power window motor is rivetted in. So you'll have to drill out the rivets, replace it with either nuts and nylon-threaded bolts... or install new rivets.

If you use the PFF 'Search' function; you'll find 'gold'!

My suggestion: Add Rodney's Electric Window Helpers

Plus, cleaning/replacing the switches....

Often it isn't a dead motor but wiring anywhere in the car &/or mechanical in the door have the problem(s).
If you replace a motor & don't fix others then new motor will hate you.

As Ogre said, the first step is to disconnect the motor from the harness and test it with a good battery.

Rodney Dickman:
When you push one of your electric window switch(es) all the power from the car battery goes thru the electric window switch and then on to the electric window motor(s). Any degradation of the contacts in the electric window switch(es) results in the electric window motors receiving less than 100% of the battery power. As the electric window switches in your Fiero age they wear and lose their ability to pass power on to the electric window motors.
