Welcome to the forum. Sorry about your dad.
I wanted to address the "front" valve cover, as many people refer to the valve cover located closet to the trunk as the "front" one... but of course it's really the
back one.
The
actual front valve cover has a metal tube that connects to the throttle body's rubber snorkel (which was updated for a recall decades ago). The back valve cover is where the PCV plugs into, and from there the attached hose connects underneath of the top intake plenum. I believe the rubber grommet in both valve covers is the same.
