UPDATE!
Scott from our car group saw this post and got on the phone with me, he is quite a wizard with electrical and had it figured out to be the isolation relay!
After that it was just a matter of getting the motors and motor relays installed that worked and I'm back in business!
The gen one system will easily connect into the gen 2 system as long as the motors and relays are working!
Thanks again for the help
Pat

Good luck w/ that plan... Very Likely Gen 1 Motors will die and Soon. Often killing the Battery too.

You can get New Gen 2 Motors from Cardone and others. Cardone and a few have a good Warranty too.

He's selling the car and saving the Gen 2 for parts. I've rebuilt several Gen 1 headlight motors and they have been reliable.

Oh no, I DONT want to hear that!
Hahahaha
Ok, so I took the gen 2 system out to use in my car I am making nice and am putting the gen 1 system into its place just to have working pop up headlights.
I changed out the entire system so will that still cause the motor issues you talked about? It's not a daily driver and most likely will be driven on a very rare occasion where I will need to even use the headlights.
I am really hoping this will be fine, I would hate to ha e to reinstall the gen 2 system!
Thanks Pat

Well, I would not want to think that these headlights won't hold up for someone in the future.
At this point I will drive this car to shows and meetups for now. I just put a new ac compressor in it and am fixing some clear coat issues but other than that this is my best driving and most reliable fiero.
Once I get the ac done in my 86 get and rebleed the clutch line I will post the 87 for sale.
I have quite a few fieros but not the ones you would confidently jump in and drive around!
