Fellas, I got a problem? Does anybody have the trunk wire schematics for my ‘85 Fiero? My “mechanic” totally messed up (crossed up ALL the wiring) so completely, that I no longer have my rear inside trunk remote solonoid? I need help from someone who can show me how each wire is supposed to be hooked up? [OEM] I appreciate your assistance. Cordially, kevin Pa. My trunk torsion bar(s) also need to be fixed/replaced.
Hey Kevin; I have a 1985 and a 1988 service manual, and also the Haynes manual......The trunk release wiring is pretty simple- power to the switch, which then goes to the trunk release Relay......There could be a problem at that point- either an automatic trans needs to be in "Park" to allow actuation, or with the manual trans you need the Parking brake set (Although I do not have to do this)
The only other possible problem is that the Fuse should be checked (Courtesy/Lid)
Here is a "Improved" version of the diagram...

Hello Eric😊 As I stated, my (dash) inside wiring, and all my connectors are perfec and all clean!👍 My problem (that hopefully a PFF members can assist me) is the wiring schematics at/on the trunk lid?. My “mechanic” rearranged all the underside of my deck lid wiring? What? Now I can not figure out what wire, (from my front seat) goes to what particular deck lid connector? Before I took my ‘85 SE to this guy, EVERYTHING worked as at should be from the factory? I was thinking a PFF member could possibly supply me a picture of the stock unmolested deck lid? I hope my writing clarifies my problem🤨. Cordially, Kevin Ps. I can drive my car, to wherever, to get it fixed $
So if that is the only issue, it's 1 wire to the solenoid that is black and the connector for the one wire should be at the driver side decklid hinge on the 85.

OK- After a while I can usually "Comp-Re-hend" what others have written. Here is some pics...BUT.....I swapped my Notchy lid for a 86-88 GT lid...so this may not solve your problem. Critically, the trunk release wire is black and white striped.
First, check the black/white wire at the trunk release solenoid on the deck lid (Have someone push the button while checking for voltage)...Then check where the wire disconnects at the front of the deck lid.....After that (If you did not see power at both of those locations) check at the switch in the dash; Orange wire is POWER, while Yellow/black wire is switched power going to the relay.
I am not sure where the relay is, but you can then go to it and check for A) Power in from the switch and B) "Relayed" power coming out.
Remember that the Relay has a requirement for the (Automatic) gear select being in Neutral or the (Manual) Parking brake being engaged (If the KEY is in the ON position) If the key is off then the switch/relay/trunk release should work no matter what.
So my trunk problem is now solved. The switch was completely dead. After a few YT videos, and seeing the suggestions that too many people push down on the switch instead of up, I figured $14 was a lot less that hours tracing wires. And sure enough...
This wonderful little thing installed easily, and first gentle push in an upwards direction my trunk opened.
But in the same stretch I found out my cassette player doesn't work, so one step forward, one step backwards.
