I've been searching the internet for quite some time. Turns out I can grab a reman 2.5 for a 1985 to 1986 Grand Am for really short money. Looking at the pictures, I can see no reason why it wouldn't be a direct bolt in to my '84 Fiero. Some one tell me why I'm wrong, then I'll tell you why I want to do it.

1. make sure is VIN R engine. VIN U and others won't work.
2. even then will have to reuse some 84 parts and wiring.

84 cars may have engine replace under Warranty/Recall work.
So your "84" engine can be really 85-86 engine.
