Can anyone direct me to a clear picture and or removal tutorial for the alternator bracket on a V6 (1986). I've removed every nut, bolt and wire. Alternator is loose but the bracket is blocking it from moving it to a hopefully removal area. I've removed both the upper and lower bolt from the bracket that I can see...is there a third bolt hidden? And yes the bracket snapped but I have a Rodney repair bracket brace on hand.

Happy 4th of July to all!

There's 4 bolts (3 to head, 1 to block)

One extra tip. If your alternator bracket is corroded it can break easily. The Fiero Store sells a replacement that is a bit stronger than the original. You may or may not need it but it is available.

That's fairly typical. That bracket was not made very strong and years of flexing and corrosion can set in. The Rodney part is an Alternator Bracket Reinforcement Plate. If your alternator bracket has snapped the plate may not work. You probably need the new bracket that the Fiero store can supply. Good luck replacing the alternator. in an auto Fiero it is not a pleasant job, but you know this already.

Now that the feeling has returned to my finger’s wrist and arms, I am happy to report that the alternator is installed and functioning. Thanks to all who contributed suggestions via the tech page and by PM. A special thanks goes out to a fellow FIERO owner and friend, Pat Jones, who came down on day two to wrestle the old one out and fight the new one into position. Friends helping out are what make putting up with these cars worth it. I also want to note that the Rodney Dickman alternator reinforcement bracket saved the day as the bracket did break when the original alternator was unbolted. (I also installed Rodney’s idler, another well engineered item).
