I replaced my idle air-control valve today (2.8 v6) and removed the throttle position sensor in order to get better access to it. One of the bolts for the TPS was completely stripped and I have to use vice grips to get it out. I went to multiple hardware stores and it seems like the TPS bolts are a completely non-standard size; M5-8mm is a smidgen too big and M4-8mm seems too small. Am I overlooking something? I'm trying to avoid having to buy a new TPS just for the bolts.

I ended up going with M5x0.8 helicoils.

Thanks for the link. I see I'm not the only one who's been frustrated by this.
