Wait wait wait - Test first before replacing crap. Does the injector get a signal?
Here's the first test - If there is no signal from the distributor - the ECM will never fire the injector!!!!
How to tell if the ECM is getting a signal. Key on, wait till the fuel pump stops running. Then bump the ignition with the smallest bump. If the fuel pump comes on for two seconds and turns off there is a signal from the ICM in the distributor to the ECM. If the pump does not come on, then you have to look at why.
A second thing to look for is does the tach rise from zero to 200 rpm and fall back to zero during cranking? It should. If not that also points toward bad primary ignition components.
If you crank the engine long enough, the oil pressure switch will also turn on the fuel pump. It will be on for longer than two seconds. So don't do more than just a bump of the starter for this test.
there are a few reasons i think its the fuel injector, one the tach does bump up to 200rpm when cranking, two it runs fine if briefly if i use starting fluid so i think the ignition system is fine or at least not the reason the injector doesn't spray it was sitting in a field for god knows how long before i bought it so there is a really good chance the injector just corroded while it was sitting there what do you guys think?
what the hell, i think this car is cursed. i changed out the fuel injector and it started right up, smoked a bit and ran at a higher rpm than idle but it ran. turned it off, started it back up and it started right up let it run for a few then it shut off and wont start back up now also it looks like there is oil dripping out of the muffler. Now what?
well i think i've narrowed it down to the fuel pressure regulator, the one that's on there looks misshapen like it was dripping to one side, kinda like a tear drop. should have one in the morning
