I though I would post what I did to repair the dipstick for my Getrag 5 speed transmission, which no longer sealed in the hole in the transmission. While looking for a replacement I found Dorman 917-301 which turned out to have the same rubber part the the Getrag stick has. I took both part, swapped the rubber part and reassembled the Getrag stick and I was back in business. Below are the photos of what I did.

yes. I assume you keep the original stick because the red one has different markings. Or maybe you like black.

Yes. The red one is about 30" long. I would have cut it to match the length of the original (black) one if I couldn't have disassembled it.
