I have been reading the posts on the subject and did not see my issue. I will state what I know, have learned, so please respond based on your knowledge. Thanks:
1986 Fiero, 4-speed Manual Has been chopped up and I am trying to get it back up and running.
Problem:
Fan speed switch does not turn blower fan on in lower settings or on high speed. Constant power at the high speed relay (red wire) When key is 'On', servo motors move the flaps When key is 'On', tested power on the the two brown wires on the power relay, Red wire, constant power on the high speed relay, no power at the fan speed switch, no power at the blower motor. Fuse (FAN) is good, however, I swapped it out and still no power at the blower motor or fan speed switch with the key at the 'On" position. Tested the motor with a 12V power source, and it works perfectly. Resistor was replaced, but no power on any lead of the resistor with the key at the 'On' position. Both power relays have been replaced, still, the high speed power relay Red wire has constant 12V, both key 'Off' and key 'On'. Again, with Key 'On', both brown wires on power relay (lower speeds relay) have 12V. Red wire on high speed relay is constant 12V, but no power to the blower, no power to the fan switch selector, fuse in fuse box is good, with fan plugged in, no power to the selector switch.
I purchased a new relay after testing everything: motor, relays, control switch (dash head), and after a whole bunch of reading and asking questions, thought that a minimal expense was to replace the relays. I purchased and replaced the 'speeds' relay, and the motor now works on speeds 1, 2, and 3. I will pick up the second relay on Sunday (January 12) and replace the high speed relay. Hopefully, it will be the fix to the second issue (high speed - blower motor).
