So I'm looking at needing a replacement isolation relay for my 86SE and unless I'm mistaken, it appears that a RY130 relay looks like a viable for this. Question I have is this....Has anyone done it with this relay? It looks very close if not exactly the same as far as the diagrams go. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thank you and have a wonderful evening!

I installed Rodney's Isolation relay in my 86 two years ago, and it is working flawlessly...Color coded and very easy to install...

The 84-86 headlight motor system employs two different relays a motor actuator relay and an isolation relay. The motor relay is readily available but the isolation relay is not. The isolation relay can be made using two relays and the schematic on how to hook it up is in the archives of this forum.
By and large the early Fiero headlight system can be troublesome. Rodney Dickman makes a plug and play control system where you can adapt the 87-88 headlight motors found on eBay for about $65 a pair.

New design 1984-1986 headlight control upgrade.

Why a second design? This whole project started when aftermarket 87/88 headlight motors started to appear in the aftermarket. I worked with a local electrical engineer and we tried to reproduce the controller for the 87/88 Fiero headlight system. My idea was to offer a reproduction 87/88 headlight motor controller and misc parts and let the customer buy these aftermarket 87/88 headlight motors so anyone with a 84-86 could upgrade to have basically the same system as used in the 87/88 Fiero. The problem we found is there is an IC chip in the controller that has a number on it that is changed by GM and is not traceable. So basically we could not reproduce the 87/88 headlight motor controller without the real number for that IC chip.

So I decided I could make the 84-86 headlight control system with everything in one potted box just as the 87/88 was all in one box. That worked fine but the problem was that it was somewhat difficult and time consuming to install. You had to reroute many wires etc. I don't blame many for not wanting to install it in their 84-86 Fiero because of the complexity of the install. In time I realized there is a better way to do this that is seriously easier to install.
In Short, He said Doesn't make a Gen2 module replacement. (Eckler's and maybe a few others has/had an aftermarket Gen2 module. Firebird Link has no pic and must call.)

so far anyone else trying to make a Gen2 module "replacements" or just eliminate them have not dealt w/ door jam protection, power time outs, etc. IOW most to all are crap that can fry motor(s), break HL lift assemble(s), or even cause a fire.

So in other words the upgrade from 1984-1986 Fiero systems will require the Gen 2 module
