Was driving the other night and noticed that when going to shift I couldn’t see any of the letters (P, R, N, D) near the shifter because they weren’t lit up. Bulbs died? I wanted to know which bulb would fit and how exactly would I go about installing a new one? Hopefully it’s a easy job?

Very small light bulb and often cooks the socket. OE Bulb is 70 but 73 or 74 works and doesn't cook as bad.

You pull clip locking shift knob then the knob.
Pull ashtrays and 4 screws.

3 small lamps under that. 2 ashtrays 1 snifter.
I Leave blown ashtrays bulbs. The light leaks out and annoying.
Even the shifter light can be annoying at night. Any light there often bounces off windshield.

Before you ask, LED often have problems because won't dim w/ Fiero dimming. Shifter and others are on same circuit w/ dash back lights. Plus most LED are way too bright for this.

You need to remove the shift handle (one clip) , then take out the four screws that hold the shift console in place. Remove the console then unscrew the bulb socket and replace the #70 miniature bulb or try the LED version of it.
