While replacing belts I noticed that the motor mounts looks very flat, I presume it has gone bad my questions are
1= solid mounts (inexpensive) Vs OEM (super expensive)
2= tips on how to replace.
3= should the trami mounts be replaced at the same time (i presume it is more than one)
4= tips as how to replace those also.
5= any supplier to go to in addition to the Fiero Store

Please help.

Many thanks

The last time I bought "Genuine GM parts" trany mounts, they were so soft that you could twist them easily till the tab contacted the edge of the opening on them.....One failed on my 3.4 F-body conversion/5spd within two weeks...Instead, I found some(Anchor brand) that were much more firm and work better...Not allowing the engine to flop back and forth.

The problem with them is that the metal is thinner....This only became a problem after 10 years when the rear trany mount failed and before I realized I drove it a bit and the tab started to bend. That is with 200 Lb/ft of torque and some hard driving.

I had a hydraulic ENGINE mount that started leaking after 4 years....SO I bought the Fiero store Solid (Rubber) engine mount.......Have had it on for 2 years now, no problems.

Summit has the Anchor Trans mounts......And I usually get them delivered from Nevada to SF Bay area in one day....Order today, get it tomorrow afternoon!

You can get the motor mount on eBay all day long for less than $20. No matter where you get it you need to order the motor mount for the 2.5 not the 2.8 or you will get the mount for 85-87 2.8 v6. All the parts stores books are wrong. In 88 2.5 and 2.8 use the same fluid filled motor mount.

I forgot to mention that the "Solid engine mount" is solid RUBBER.....Not all metal.....Also, I could discern no difference in vibration between the Hydraulic and solid rubber mount....

This is on my 85 SE V6 converted to 88 rear subframe/suspension, which also has a 3.4 F-body long block using the Fiero induction system and a Getrag 5 spd.
