Time for a full brake job caliper replacement on an 85GT. Could not get any name brand rebuilt calipers so I went with a brand called Wearever from Advance Auto. The price with discounts and exchange was about $60 per caliper (unloaded). When I first opened the box the appearance looked excellent like a brand new caliper with a new PB lever, spring, banjo bolt, mounting bolts, seals, but the best part was that a new piston and clip setup was used that will hold the inner pad in place better than the GM circle clip. I installed them, made the adjustment and the eBrake seems to be working perfectly so far. The units may have been rebuilt overseas but these calipers look to be very good. Anyone here have any long term use experience with Wearever rear calipers????

Some rebuild use new pistons. Likely can't get good piston cores.
AA stores have good parts. Been using them over 20 years now.

But GM use SS stamp clip w/ 4 more notches on piston for later units and recall replacements.
If you have wire clips then have old piston(s) or new piston and someone just reuse old wire clip or bough the "wrong" clips.

Can get both clips in caliper hardware kits. RA and others have both but some only stock 1 type.

SS clips go in "right way" then pads are easier to install.

Its very easy to secure the inner pad in place with the wire clips on the Wearever calipers. The pads snap right in place and stay put. I like them better than the stamped clips.

SS clip holds good but because of tolerance of pad and clip may need to bend a bit on sharp ears to adjust. But wire clips may need to adjust too.
Some pad's backings are poorly stamped, heavy paint or power coat, can make any clip hard to attach.
Some clips are bent a bit too tight or loose.

Been using SS Clips for 20+ years and clips stay attach until I pull the pad when they're worn out.

You can get either clips as posted above.
