Hey everyone,

I recently picked up a 86 GT with power windows, that needs some TLC. It's been in my garage for a few months now. But I want to take it outside and park it (covered up) for a few days. The passenger side window is down right now, and I'm pretty sure the motor is bad. It makes a sound when I press the switch, but no movement and I can't the switch and lift the glass.

I know I'll have to replace the motor, but is there any quick fix to lift the glass? Maybe a certain rivet to drill out. I'm sure I'll have to keep the glass in position with some duct tape. But I just need a temporary solution for a few days.

Any ideas?

Try pulling the glass up while pushing the button. It works on mine.

I can second this approach. When I was having issues with my window, I used both hands (one on either side of the window) and had either my wife or some other helper push the button. I also used a similar approach on a Towncar with bad motors in the rear doors.

If none of the above work you could have a dirty or worn out switch and not passing enough current to lift the window. This happened to my son's Jeep so I pulled door panel and separated the pigtail on the window motor and applied direct battery power (I might of used a charger) to the pigtail. Up the window went without help. Reverse the connection and it will go the other direction.

Yup try this and/or pull up or wiggle front/back direction.
Door connector is behind the carpet for A pillar. 2 big wires.

If those don't work then have to dig into the door to find the problem(s).
