Hi guys, my 3.4 PR highly modified engine is almost complete. Is has a Vortech V1 SC but which pulley for max boost?

Some info, Truleo intake and headers, 2,5” SS exhaust sytem with sherrybomb, heads are Fully ported with a 3 angle valve job, 1:6 rollers, Cloyes double true roller timing chain, cam Crane 272H, 19LB injectors, Melling high volume oil pump. Gonna run it with the 7730 DIS.

I know its better to get a 6-rib pulley on the Vortech because there are more sizes with those but cant figure out which size.

Also need a bypass of blow off! Some got an idea for that? Brand and what kind?

Your help is always appreciated guys. Thanks in advance. Greets Jeroen

This would be a question for Fierosound since he used a similar setup.

You also need bigger injectors. Those 19 lb injectors are going to be severely undersize for this application.

There’s several models of V1 – Look at the label on the unit.
http://www.superchargersonl...?main_page=page&id=8
http://legacy.vortechsuperc....com/scspecsheet.php

Mine is very a old (1990’s) V1 A-trim 720cfm with specs of 10 psi max. at 45,000 impeller rpm
I’m running a 3.4 with 9.5 CR, so I’ve used a pulley that limits my boost to about 6 psi @ 5000 engine rpm.
I have my Bosch bypass valve disabled because it’s not needed at that low psi.

S/C Owner’s Manual – SEE PAGE 3
Installation, bypass valve etc. info.

Fierosound... your setup is a dream of mine.. 😬 I just wish California wasn't so strict

......although, let's just say maybe I have a 3.4L Frankenstein.... already built for boost 😉.. All forged internals at 9.25:1... 260 cam, full rollers, ported everywhere (intake plenum/heads),.... nothing but goodies.. 😏 I was going to run a Saab intercooler in my driverside side scoop too and attach a fan to it to help flow. I was thinking that with the intercooler plans.. I wouldn't mind 8-10lbs of boost.. I did some exhaust piping upgrades for it too.. Maybe you've seen my build thread?.. tried to make it look like stock.. (California) it's definitely a difference from stock though.. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/097148.html

anyway..... I'm ready for the next step. Buy land outside of California in order to have S/C setup without the #plaque from a kit that some company made and paid to have cleared from bar.

I've also stocked up on the components for DIS setup. Just stuck now, I guess 😐

--- are you running the OBDII system also or a piggy back off the stock?.. maybe with an 85 ecm with knock sensor?..

Definitely curious......

I've seen your build. Beautiful welds on that exhaust.

TUNING is always the problem.
Many are looking at the 7730 ECM with EBL board
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/128614.html

At one time I did use the '85 ECM with knock sensor with Wester's tune.
Now I'm using the 7165 ECM with flashable ERAM and hacked code.
I also have this on my Indy running the multi-port fuel injection I built.
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/119333.html

I can use TunerPro RT to run the engine directly off the laptop and make Real Time changes.
I only wish I was more proficient in it's use. It's a long learning curve.
If I were "doing over" a S/C engine install - I'd do a 3800 S/C swap.

7165 ECM with custom flashable board (replaces MEMcal)

ATI Big Red valve is a nice blow off. They are pricey but from what I have read and researched they are worth it.

Have you contacted the manufacturer of the supercharger for their input?

No i have not contacted Vortech for the right diameter pulley i need for this application. I always ask you guys and hoped someone would just say to get a 3” pulley 6 rib for a 20 psi boost. But now i will look futher on what to get. But i will be back here to report. I will put photos on here but cant get them on PFF from my phone. But i’ll get it done. And i am from the Netherlands so i order everything out of the usa. Pretty expensive.
