I've heard it pronounced like "MEE-ruh" and "MAY-rah". But mostly "MEE-ruh".

I have an 88 #8029, wikipedia say 88 production was 159.

I saw a copy of a letter from Corporate Concepts that says 153 were done on 88s.

The car on ebay looks like it probably is a Mera, it has the correct backup lights and door panel toppers. The rear bumper looks like the one that Corporate Concepts used to satisfy the DOT requirements. It also looks like it has Rodneys 308 Euro front bumper, current price on his site is $799.95 and that doesn't include the turn signal lenses. The lenses will cost at least $100 for a pair of repro 308 lenses.

Message the seller and ask if it has the Corporate Concepts label on the engine cover, if it's a real Mera it will have it.

All these years in my head I've apparently been pronouncing it wrong. I thought it rhymed with Bear-uh.

In Canada, that is correct.

Nice to see that the great advocate of PIP got a picture wrong....

No no... correct Canadian pronunciation would rhyme with Bear-eh. American pronunciation of Mera rhymes with Beer-huh.

Wrong? How so?

The GIF was larger than 300 kb (as animated GIF's often are)... too big for PIP, so I just directly linked to it.

It doesn't just open up when you click on it? That's too bad... it's a "nice" bear.
