Found a 1992 SC 400 w/ 205k miles for $1000 because the tranny died.
And I've pretty much decided that I want to swap the 2.8 in my formula to a semi-permanent life as garage ornament, so I'm casually shopping around for an aluminum block V6 or baby V8 that revs to over 6 stock.
So... you think this might fit? It's DOHC, so I'm guessing it's pretty wide and tall. It's also a longitudinal implementation in the lexus. I'm also just guessing this isn't the cheapest engine to get parts for.
The hard part is going to be the transmission I think. People fit Northstars. Engine Man on this forum swapped an Audi V8 into his using the Audi transaxle that bolts to it. He managed to fit it in a proper longitudinal layout without stretching. I've got the same engine and transmission in the shop for mine but I'll be stretching mine and using Corvette suspension. I got the engine and the transmission (5mt) for around $400 locally, a billet flywheel for around $375 and a factory S4 clutch for like $120. With headers, intake and a good tune this setup has made a bit over 300whp. Might be something to look into vs the Toyota.
