So last night my headlights wouldn't come up. I have done some research and found that it is either the isolation relay or a blown main fuse. Where would these things be located on my car? Any help would be appreciated since I am rookie when it comes to working on my car. My car is a 86 GT as well. So gen 1 headlights

Thanks

The headlight doors are powered by several fuse links and the "Tail Fuse" 20A fuse. The Fusible links are: Fusible Link B - powers the Isolation relay; Fusible Link C - powers the LH headlight door motor and Fusible Link D - powers the RH headlight door motor.

Fusible Link Locations:
Fusible Link B - RH front of engine compartment, at battery junction block
Fusible Link C - In front lights harness, to the right of the brake master cylinder
Fusible Link D - In front lights harness, to the right of the brake master cylinder

Hope this information is of some value and help in sorting your headlight door issues.

The information was pulled from the 1986 PONTIAC Fiero Service Manual

Thanks for the info, just tried my headlights to start figuring out the issue and they came up just like normal. Must be a bad connection somewhere

Could be the switch, itself. They can be disassembled and the contacts cleaned. Do it on a good clean surface to be sure you don't lose any parts.

Thank you Cajun for the great information.

You also might want to check your headlight switch connections.
