A lopsided dog bone strut. Some may say leaning to one side or another. Not square with the mounts. If this is you, check the other 3 mounts. Two on the trans and one below the crank pulley in the front of the engine.

I actually broke a rear (trunk side) trans mount. The only thing I noticed was a "clank" noise when the tab on the bracket raised up and hit the top of the rear cradle rail. Noticed it under decel, when I was in stop and go traffic.
If you have an automatic transmission, try shifting back and forth between Reverse and Drive while you hold down the brake pedal (with the engine running). If you hear and feel a clunk in the back, you may have a bad motor mount. You can do the same with a manual gearbox (set the parking brake instead of holding the brake pedal), but it may be more difficult to tell.

A this point in time, I would change all the trans and engine mounts even if they are not broken. They are 30+ years old and most likely the rubber has stretched softened and excessive movement is being allowed.

What year/engine/trans do you have? I have an 88GT. To check the top engine mount (Dog Bone mount), try grabbing the top of the engine and rock it forward and back to see if it moves some. If so the bushings on the dog bone mount need replacing. I believe these go bad over time on all V6 fieros. Not sure if there is a dog bone on the 4 cylinder engine.
The 4-cylinder Fieros also have a dogbone mount. And the bushings deteriorate the same as the V6 dogbone.
Another issue with the 4-cylinder dogbone mounts, especially on the '87-88 ones, is that the dogbone mounting bracket on the cylinder head will split in half, right down the middle. I've seen this on so many 4-cylinder Fieros, I've lost count. My solution for that is to weld the bracket back together, then use some really big washers on the mounting bolts, to spread the load.
It was missing muffler springs and loose wheel well liner; no charge from my mechanic. How often does that happen when you take your Fiero in? My next question is: where do I get a replacement liner, or, better yet, how do I tighten the existing one? Thanks! bb
