I have a dumb ? Does anyone know what black paint would be close to the original paint used for the engine brackets and thermostat housing. It looks like flat black was used or was it semi gloss or gloss black? Trying to restore as close as possible to original.

Thank you.

My 84 fiero had a flat black color on the cradle and mounts. No rust, so it must have originally been flat unless the paint oxidized over time. Unlikely, if they used any half decent paint. Other years may be different but this is my experience.

You can use semi gloss or satin finish.

Semi-gloss black comes really close to the OEM color.

Many things are not painted.
Many Black parts have an oxide coated finish to fight rust.
Problem is oxide is bad for electric so make sure alternator and others parts have a good ground.

Thanks everyone for your help and tips. hard to tell with 30 years of grime! Good points about the grounds. I'll clean the areas before reconnecting the engine harness.

Much appreciated
