If your gauge never moves, make sure it has power.
There is a connector on the dash for the fuel gauge sender wire. Here are the pinouts for the dash connectors (3)
http://cliff.hostkansas.com...od_Wiring_pinout.jpgA continuous wire (Pink) runs from that connector through the right side firewall passage and then splits off just inside the engine compartment.

That wire along with a Tan/White (fuel pump power) and Black (ground) runs down towards the fuel tank. A three wire connector there connects finally to the tank. The fuel tank sender will have a resistance of 0 ohms at empty and 90 ohms at full. You can unplug the connector and ground the pink wire coming from the firewall (key on). The gauge should be at past full with the connector unplugged and should move to zero with the wire grounded.
The two wires to the temp gauge/temp light sender have separate functions. Each wire operates separately. Key on - grounding one should turn on the TEMP light. Grounding the other should cause the TEMP gauge to move from cold to pegged hot.
