So I have purchased a 3800sc swapped Fiero off of a forum member recently and the purchase included a DHP Tuner. Now my question is are these obsolete and everyone is going to HP Tuners now or are there people out there still using the DHP?
I've looked and searched all over the internet trying to find the software or what I would exactly need use this tuner if possible, and all the links I have found have been dead links. I would love to learn more about the DHP since I have one now, but if I can't i'll head the HP Tuners route.
I'm a part of the DHP forum and that place looks dead so i'm kind of lost as to what to do next.
get the tiny tuner, it's a bin editor that allows you to change way more parameters than just the DHP, it's free, but you still need the DHP to flash the bin file.
That would be awesome if you could send that to me! But yea, I don't know how you would... email maybe? I'm not to familiar with drop box.
And yes I will definitely check out the tiny tuner, I just need to get the DHP up and going on my laptop which seems to be little more of a task than I had thought originally, good thing I enjoy learning new things
Well the DHP forum seems dead, doesn't look like anyone has posted anything since 2015. Some of the pages you can't even access anymore, all of the older posts still seem intact for now.
I have the software for tinytuner and DHP downloaded thanks to hookdonspeed, now I just have to get that darn NET framework installed and it should hopefully be good to go.

FWIW, AVT (advanced vehicle technologies) made the DHP cable, you can buy a newer cable (AVT-852) that is also USB out of the box so you don't need the Keyspan adapter, IIRC, it was about $250 shipped, which isn't bad for obd2 tuning hardware that doesn't require credits or any other BS to use.

Ericjon ,. You use to be able to do that.. in the past month it has been learned that Charles has instructed AVT to no longer configure the AVT boxes to work with DHP... Seems that option has been taken off the table..

DHP is old technology. While its likely that it can still be used to make fueling and/or timing adjustments, the program has not been updated/upgraded in 10 years nor any new development done with it. Try it and see if it does the job but if you want to know what the pro's use, its the HP Tuners Tuning Suite. That program is already on its forth (or fifth) upgrade/revision and it keeps improving all the time.

I seriously doubt hp tuners is doing anything to improve the tuning capacity for GM V6's beyond what the DHP and tiny tuner offer, they only give a **** about the money makers, V8 cars and trucks, and the turbo 4 cylinders to a lesser degree.

Yea it seems like HP tuners is geared more toward the v8 guys, I did see where they are supporting the v6s there just isn't much support on their forum for it.
DHP seemed like it was the go to several years ago before hpt took the market, just from what I've read anyway, I dont have hands on experience with either.
Hptuners scanner is lightyears ahead of anything you can do with DHP. However unless you have an older box and software, hptuner no longer supports .bin files, which are needed to use tiny tuner. Tiny tuner gives access to tables and settings that are not available elsewhere, and is the only program I use to tune now.
I have an older hptuners to scan and flash, but that's all I use it for. For v6 stuff, unless you can get a hptuner from before version 3, and use software from back then (2.24), you almost need both. Updating to version 3.x software does a firmware update to the cable and it will then no longer work with older versions of the software I'm told.
I picked up a DHP box last year for some pcm base level modifying, and tried using the DHP scanner again (I was a DHP beta tester years ago) I had forgotten how painful it is to use. It's tucked away in a drawer now, only to be used as necessary.

Just an update I got my dhp tuner running good, I read the pcm and saved the bin file, then took it to the editor to look at it a little. Since i'm a noob to the tuning scene I didn't change anything just was exploring the menus and such.
Definitely a lot that is available to change, my wideband on the car is messed up or having issues cause it always is pegged at 20afr while cruising and idling ( it has a NIC cam). From what i've been told it has always been that way since 2009.
So i have an innovate mtx-L coming sometime this week.
Time to start figuring out how to log and scan data.
