I have searched high and low for a "how to" on replacing window motors. I've used the search function and I've used google. Neither have yielded anything useful. If any one could direct me to an instructional thread or provide a link or even their own how to, I'd appreciate it very much.

does this help? It's for installing power windows to a manual car, but you could ignore a lot of it.

I don't have nearly enough funding to replace all the parts you're suggesting. I just need the old motor out and the new motor in.

OK use the old parts. You can even use nuts and bolts instead of rivets, but watch out for clearance issues and hope they don't get loose later.

Here is the link to my thread where I converted a manual window to power windows. You won't need that part, but I documented every step for removal of the regulator. This might help you.

To help with that switch failure you can use relays or this Window Helper

If I may chime in; be sure to replace the window motor with a quality HD unit. The cheaper Chinese units sold on eBay will work but raise the window slowly and will not last long. My son installed one on his Silverado and after 1 year it burned out. Replaced with AC Delco unit and problem solved. There is all kinds of crap being sold out there and if you can find an AC Delco unit that's probably the best bet.

I bought the window motor from the Autozone I work at. Brand new Cardone unit with a lifetime warranty.
