This is probably a stupid question, but I can't seem to find where the blower motor is located? I know it's somewhere in the front compartment but haven't had any luck finding any references detailing its removal or replacement. Additionally, the replacement motor I got from Advance came as "No wheel", I've seen the wheel it's referring to in pictures, will I be able to reuse the one on my old blower motor when removed? Thank you for any help and advice! From what I've read it's not a hard job, I just can't seem to figure out where to start! And with temperatures below 0 lately heat has started become a necessity!

Geez man, have you opened the hood?

Take the three bolts out and remove your sunroof support shelf. If you still can't see the blower you shouldn't be driving!

Right on! I certainly should not be driving! Especially without defrost!

Yes, you will reuse your wheel. You may wish to verify the direction the new motor spins. It seems a lot of 80's gm cars used the exact same blower motor, but some spin counter-clockwise, and some spin clockwise. The fiero uses the motor that spins in the opposite direction that most of these cars used. I found that out the hard way LOL.
Now is the best time to clear debris and rodent nests from the HVAC ducts. Removing the blower motor will provide some of the best access, though not to all of it. Do the best you can!
Might I ask why you are replacing your current one?

We get to un-confuse the OP first......

The wheel he is talking about is the hamster wheel fan that is attached to the motor. All the heating and A/C stuff is in front. That little fan in the trunk is for the engine.

Just take the clip off, hold the wheel and tap the shaft with a hammer

The hamster hides in the HVAC ducting. Feed him rare weatherstrip pieces and strike-anywhere matches.

And wires, lots of wires

You need the little clip that holds the wheel on, IIRC.

I've done this twice. One motor fit fine, the other required some adjustments.

When the heater blower failed in my Formula, I just swapped in a blower from one of my parts cars. Worked fine, except the damn hamsters have been fighting ever since.

If you can't get your hands on a GM service manual, you should pickup a Haynes or Chiltons. If you create a login with Autozone, you can use their free service manual. That may help.

The hamster does much better with high test 88 t-top seals as a diet! No pinging at all with this food.

Could it be that for some reason, the hamsters in the >Green< Fieros tend to build their nests right against the blower resisters?.....May we finally be close to solving the mystery of the burning green Fieros....?

Sorry I haven't had the time to respond! Second semester of classes began and I haven't had any time to be at home to work on the car. This last time I went back home over the weekend I decided to drive my car back to campus to work on it as time and weather allows, rather than sitting in the driveway at home not being driven.

I'm an easily frustrated person, therefore, I could not for my life find out how to remove the wheel. I didn't see any sort of clip. Before or after I broke the damn thing in half. Since doing that, I bought the 4 Seasons universal replacement from Auto Zone, which of course, didn't fit. Any suggestions on finding a new one? The closest I believe to have found so far are a couple listings on eBay, however, none specifically mention Fiero.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/524...AOSw-CpX~AOz&vxp=mtr

There are a few of these listings and others similar. The u-Haul listings show specific models, Firebirds, etc. but no Fiero, and I'd hate to order it and have it turn out to not be the correct fan. Any help is much appreciated, I plead much ignorance on all of this. Thanks again!

A used one shows up first if you search "fiero blower". I have replaced one of mine with a used unit, no problems. I prefer the junkyard because they are cheaper and will warranty whatever you grab.

Here's a new original;

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Acd...AOSwG-1Wv8dj&vxp=mtr

Not sure who I purchased a replacement I had from, but they are not all created equal. The one I ended up with clearly did not have the power the original motor did.

To clarify, I have a replacement blower, but it came as pictured in the eBay as above, no wheel. I only need the wheel, but cannot find one that would fit

I might make an ad in the mall and see if I have some better luck there. Thank you!

User "straws" on here regularly parts out cars, he posts from time to time in the mall, but posts all the time on eBay under the eBay name "strawsarcade" and he currently has a blower listed, with a wheel. I've purchased from him before, his prices are great and he ships quickly.
