Hi guys,

I am not sure if this has been covered somewhere on one of the billions of threads here, but I am trying to find replacement screws to hold my rear wing on? I see there are actually two sizes of the screw, and each has a self-tapping screw on one end and an actual bold with threads on the other:

This is the longer one, and my little ones seem to be rusted in two. Do you guys know where to get replacements or have a picture of them? I am trying to find some that are possibly stainless steel??

What is your experience on this matter?

Thanks!
mrstan

A viable option

Edit: nevermind, that kit is for the wing stand to spoiler bolts, not wing stand to deck lid. My bad.

Might try looking at a mirror next time you are at the pick and pull. The screws that are used to mount most GM mirrors of the late 80's to late 90's ( and maybe more) use that same form of thread. The course side threads into the base of the mirror, and the fine thread mounts to the door via nuts. I know the '98 Olds mirrors I mounted on my Elky came with those type of screws. Just don't know if they are the right size.

I just spent the last half hour searching for what I thought was a thread on how to repair this issue. I could not find it.

I had use a two part epoxy to set in the old studs. They still are held in tightly. Just a thought.

Some people use a threaded insert such as these, epoxy it in, then a bolt into it. They are threaded on the inside.

I believe that is usually done when the factory ones are stripped out though.

...

While traveling this morning, I encountered 3 Grand Am GT's, each with spoilers. Maybe one of theirs would work. Or from another GM car. Try going to a dealer with your good old one, tell them it's for the spoiler and see what they have. Even if they're $10 each, that's better than not having one. And I'd be carful about putting something into them that has to cut new threads or is larger. Those stands are pretty brittle and thin.

The picture at the top of this post is my longer screw of the two in each pair. Each strut has two screws consisting of a small screw in a large one. I don't have an example of the small screw, so I can have to show hey screw supplier as an example to look for. If anyone has a picture of the smaller of the two screws, can you posted here so I can download it to take with me to the supplier? My goal is to find a screw for each case that is stainless steel, and so will not rust as this is the case. It seems the resting screws is common on everybody's, so I'm a little doubtful anyone has the ability to take this picture, but I'm asking to none the less. Thanks guys!

This is what I did.

I just took a piece of aluminum, attached it to the wing itself, then bent it and pre-drilled a hole in the other end.

Then I just caught that hole with a stainless sheet metal screw and a big washer on the underside of the deck.
