There is tranny fluid slowly leaking from this hole.
That`s up on jackstands with the car off.
Now, I would imagine that it`s leaking more when in gear or going down the highway.
There was a bunch of tiny tranny drops all over the back of the car.
I`m sure it`s leaking from there because I wiped it off and watched as fluid formed around the lip from inside of the hole.
I would imagine that hole is for maybe a mount to be threaded in from another application.
The hole is blocked but there is a slight void in one side of it.
I`m tempted to either get a rubber stopper or use maybe jb weld.
Any thoughts?

Thanks

Are you talking about the large seal that the torque convertor goes through or the small seal on the shaft for the lock-up.
I had the transmission out not long ago and I replaced that seal.
I pulled off the inspection plate and the torque convertor and the bell housing seems dry inside.

If the inside of the bellhousing is dry then it may not be the convertor seal.

You can try to put a plug in there and see if it stops the leak.

I just went and looked at another 4t65e that I have and what`s strange is it has a hole just like mine in the car and when I looked inside of it the bottom has what appears to be a bit of lead or something right at the bottom on one side. If that little drop of lead weren`t there it would have a hole just like the one in my car. I think something must have fallen out of that small hole in the bottom of the opening, although I can`t imagine what it`s purpose could be.

That`s what I`m going to do.
I don`t imagine it can hurt anything.
Thanks

I`m just curious if there were a number or a certain year that they bored that hole a little deep and it broke into a channel or something and the cure was to just stick some kind of sealing compound in there to seal it up.

Well, the hole was not the problem.
I drove my car across town and by the time I got there the back of my car had transmission fluid all over it.
I got under it and there was oil coming out from around the inspection plate.
I don`t see how it`s leaking from the seal where the torque convertor goes into the transmission because I replace that seal not long ago.
Oh well, I guess it`s coming out.

Car is going again.
I ended up getting a new heavy duty flex plate from ZZP because mine was warped.
Also a new torque converter because the bushing was worn.
When I pulled the transmission from the engine the torque converter seal was almost out, thus the leak.
I assume the warped flex plate caused the seal to back out.
I replaced the seal and resealed the oil pan gasket because I think it had a leak as well.
So far no leaks under car.
Dang, I didn`t realize my car was down for 4 months.

Can not "view" your Picture. a 4t65e has a torque conv seal
side cover gasket
pan gasket
2 axle seals

you ruled out the tc seal, so......

wish I could SEE the picture of the hole you speak of.

If both the "bushing" and the "TC" were shot, did you at least change the fluid and the filter ??

Oh yea, I replaced the flat pan on my existing transmission with the ZZP finned pan that I had laying around.
I replaced the filter and the fluid.
Actually the bushing wasn`t that bad it had just worn unevenly on one side.
The flex plate was terribly warped, although I`m not sure how it got that bad.
