Sometimes I have a horn.
Sometimes I don't.
So it came apart, to see what sup.
The black wire, with spring attached and black plastic tube, goes into the steering wheel hub, where it rubs on the copper slip ring.
In the wheel hub, there is a white plastic tube that serves two purposes.. to insulate the contact from ground, and also to provide a small notch so that the aformentioned plastic sleeve, with little tit on the side, can lock into the sleeve.
My white plastic tube broke that wee little bit of plastic that grabs the tit. And without any grabbing, the wire just comes back out.
I tried to back out the white plastic tube, but there is no way to get a grip on it, so no can do.
Is this one of those cases where I must buy the whole steering wheel assembly, to get the little plastic tube?
Sorry, no pictures.. these bits are just too small to see anything clearly.

I ordered Dorman 83230 with hopes that some of the pieces will fit our cars. Will have to let ya know if the black sleeve with the "tit" is correct. I already assume it isn't, fieros used a longer than average horn button. The white piece is a cancel cam and they are also available from Dorman. Push too hard on the horn and the cancel cam will separate from it's copper contact. I had to locate parts cars for these assemblies in the past just to ensure the right application. Aggravating. Perhaps you can epoxy a new "tit" onto the black sleeve.

Pictures:

The white tube that I am referring to in the second picture is a small tube about the diameter of a pencil. It had a slot to accept the black insert, similar to how a bayonette bulb works. But the tiny plastic bit is broken off.
What parts come with the bits that you ordered?

The white piece looks to be what you need. It's called a cancel cam. The kit I ordered is the black piece, the spring, and a metal plunger. Your steering wheel uses a wire in place of the plunger.

There are two cancel cams. Tilt and non-tilt column. Usually not listed for Fieros but later years like S10 and other GM cars used the same part. That tube is part of the turn signal cancel cam and horn contact ring.

They sell them at Autozone (or any autoparts store) in the "Help" section
You have to pull the steering wheel to replace it but they are cheap.

here is a pic

This is the correct part for the tilt wheel, since all my cars have tilt. This is from a link on Georgia Fieros from several years ago and is for a 91 S10. The non-tilt cancel cam has a green base.
