I very much enjoy the handling of my 1988 Fiero. I have a 1986 Dino kit car that doesn't handle nearly as well. I would love to hear what can be done to modernize the pre 1988 Fiero suspensions
Thank

My experience with the 246 on VW chassis is that it was very rear end heavy which increased under steer. Staggered tire sizes and a front and rear sway bar kit would be an inexpensive start.

New bushings make a world of difference, too.

The OP is talking about a fiero based Dino , not a volkswagon base .This car has mostly stock suspension with poly upgrades IIRC .You could start by getting rid of the poly cradle bushings and replace them with solid mounts from Rodney Dickman .Does it have coilovers in the back ?New shocks in the front ? Tire size and type of tires can make a huge difference .How big and heavy are the wheels? If you ran 205/16/55 in the front 245/16/50 in the back using a quality Hi Performance summer tire you would notice a big difference .Bigger tires in the front make the steering heavy .With the extra weight and HP of your v8 you might have to go wider though .I have found that 84-87 chassis do not respond well to low profile tires .

IDK what to do about improving the turn radius, but as far as handling and understeer instead of oversteer:

It really works.

You could put on the bumpsteer kit but I did not like it .Added a lot of unsrung weight . But if you decide to put a bumpsteer kit on , it is available with wider control arms from Arrualt .They also make a sport front end kit that also is available with longer control arms and allows the use of coilovers on the front .I dont know if your wheels could use a push out or not but if they do then you can do some serious upgrades . Arrault has a web site , I will see if I can find it for you http://www.arrautmotorsports.com/

Use:
Current Gas shocks and struts.
Polly or metal cradle bushings. Polly does work on most setups and is cheap.
New Rubber CA bushing.

Those simple and "cheap" items will solve most "problems" Fiero "have" like "Horrible Bump Steer" BS that most trade rags pushed out and many believe as gospel.

See my Cave, Bump Steer and rest of section.

I knew that, but the rebody for the Fiero is quite similar and has a big chunk of weight in the rear. That's what I was referencing and would cause similar handling problems on the Fiero chassis. I didn't see anything about the setup being anything other than stock. Only someone personally familiar with his car would know that. My suggestions were the cheapest upgrades from stock before sinking a bunch of money in custom control arms, coil-overs, gas struts, and the like.
