Hey guys I am new to this forum and I was wondering if some of you could chime in with some advice and information that I am seeking. I was refered to this forum by Steve at ZZP Performance. I am currently building a project car which is not a Fiero (sorry). I am building a RWD converted L67 (from a 1997 Buick Regal GS) that will be installed into a 1985 Toyota Corolla SR5 (AE86). The drive train is already bolted in and mated to a 1997 Camaro T5 transmission with a Camaro 3.8L flywheel and clutch kit mated to the engine by a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 2.2L bellhousing with a modified Mustang shifter. I will post some as soon as photobucket is back up from maintenance.

The L67 is converted to RWD by using a Holden Commodore oil sup and oil pickup and I am also using the Oil filter housing that I bought off a kind Australian dude that I met through a Facebook group community for Australian 3800 owners. It took over 4 months to arrive at my house here in Montreal but the guy literally gave me the parts just for the shipping price.

Anyways so right now the engine is sitting in my car with the while 1997 Buck Regal GS wiring harness is on the floor awaiting to be adapted for this swap. Steve told me about a "Dune Buggy" style computer set up with the stock PCM which is a VATs Security delete and a RPM redline raised to 6,300rpm and also EGR and E-VAP OBD codes delete.

So my question is what can I cut off the PCM harness such as Automatic Transmission harness and EGR and Evap crap. What else is not needed? How should the PCM be wired up the Ignition? Does the PCM give the starter the signal?

I have the whole wiring diagram in front of me so you can list off what is not needed and what not.

You can see my progress on another forum where I started posting my build

Hope to hear from you guys thanks.

Welcome to the Forum!

This tech forum may not be much help because we are all Fiero, but we have another forum called 'Other Cars'....Your build sounds very ambitious.....good luck with it.

These will help

If you're using the '97 PCM, I'd ditch it and go for the 98-02. Anyway with one of those diagrams, and a pinout of your car, it should be relatively straightforward. Goodluck!

ok sweet that pin diagram does half the work awesome thanks!

Why ditch the 97 PCM? what makes the 98-02 PCM better? I was going to send the PCM in to ZZP Performance to do the flash and tune and delete the codes and what not.

Fuse the unswitched power to the PCM at 10a. The alternator needs unswitched (sense) power and tap off that same fuse for it.
Fuse the injectors at 20A
Fuse the ignition at 20A
Fuse the switched power for the PCM and the MAF power at 10A
Fuse the Heated O2, the BBV, the Evap Purge at 20A

Fuse these all separately so if you do ever have a problem, you can find it quickly.

The 98-02 PCM was used much more and is much more familiar to the tuning world than the 97. The 98 does have better misfire detection.

Did you balance your flywheel for the SC or are you just using a NA flywheel?

Awesome thanks for the fuse list. I'm going to go check the local scrap yard for a 98-02 car and grab the ECU and engine harness from there i guess :/

The Camaro 3.8L flywheel I got balanced to the same balance as the L67 flex plate.

If you are building your own harness, you can just repin your 97 harness for the 98-02 ECM connectors. All the connectors are the same. You pretty much have to strip down the harness and reassemble it anyway so when you reassemble it you can assemble it 97 or 98-02

I sent you an email.
