I do not have a thread on this specific subject but do have a 3.4 push rod engine (with a turbo) installed in one of my cars. The basic things needed are a 2.8 engine, a 3.4 push rod block with internals, a Rodney Dickman (or equivalent) kit to drill two new starter holes on the 3.4 block, an appropriate flywheel (cannot remember if it is neutrally balanced flywheel or not since it has been so long (0.84 inches thick IIRC but check on this), and some time. Finish the 3.4 block using the appropriate 2.8 parts, bore the new starter holes, and install the engine in the vehicle. You may need to do some tuning to get the correct fuel/air ratios due to use of a larger injector.

I am absolutely certain that there is a thread on this (likely in technical) so do a quick search and you will likely be surprised at the amount of detail that is available wrt this swap.

I did this swap at one time. These are easily among the two best threads I've ever seen, regarding the swap.

At one point one of the "contributors" mentions using a roller cam 3.4 block. Although it technically is possible, I believe it's a lot more trouble, and leaves lots more to go wrong. If you're not completely familiar with what you're doing, just use the Camarobird block, as described.

The 3.4L swap is as close to a drop in engine replacement as you can come. This engine requires a neutrally balanced flexplate or flywheel so only the 88 2.8L parts will work.

Even better, I have videos on the installation Maybe you might find them useful. Make sure you check the text of my YouTube videos as I include links to the parts you need to complete the install. I loved the 3.4 and feel that any Fiero in need of an engine swap should get at least the 3.4 or better. I'll actually be pulling my 3.4 out in a few weeks to take my car to the next level. I'm attempting my first a 3800 install on a spare cradle...and yes I'm doing a video of that swap as we speak. I have other videos if your interested in the 7730 swap, removing bushings from an engine cradle or control arm, cold air intake or rear sway bar while your engine and cradle are outGood luck on your build!

Thanks for posting the great how-to videos. I hope to do this swap myself someday (when I can find a local 3.4 and my wife disappears for a few days) ...
