Hi - quick question - I am about to fit my oil pan to my 87 - 2.8 engine and the gasket I have is a fel pro therma dry.
is it wise to put RTV sealant or fit the gasket totally dry?

That gasket goes on dry. Make sure both mating surfaces are clean of oil

The molded rubber goes on dry, however, I like to mount it on the pan first with some sealant to keep it in place during the install.

I just used a product from NAPA on my water pump gasket that was very sticky and good at holding the gasket on as well as having sealant properties on areas exposed to oil, gas and water. It was much easier to use than rtv and it held the gasket on better.
