I am replacing the water pump on my 3800sc with an electric pump. I looked up the torque on the bolts holding the cover on the water pump/block and found them to be torque and stretch specifications. My understanding is to never reuse these bolts. I am, however, having problems finding new bolts for replacing this pump cover. So the question is, 1) should I not use these old bolts? Second, I've pretty well researched the web for replacement bolts with no luck. There are 2 sizes of bolt for this replacement. Has anyone found a supplier for these bolts?

I cannot understand why torque to yield bolts would be used to mount a water pump in such a non-critical engine application. I would just reuse the water pump bolts and use Permatex coolant gasket sealant on the gasket and on the bolts. If these really are torque to yield bolts a GM dealer should stock them.

I decided to go ahead and reuse the old ones for now. I'll swap them out before I reinstall the engine. Here is where I got the info http://www.torkspec.com/tor...?KI=12-3.8L-231ci-V6

The bolts are not necessarily torque to yield just because they use a torque-angle spec. If you can look at the GM manual or all-data etc, they will specify if the bolts must be replaced. I have reused the timing cover/water pump/oil filter adapter bolts numerous times and they are all torque-angle bolts, but I do not believe they are torque to yield.
