Looking at a new clutch line for my '84 at the Fiero store http://www.fierostore.com/P...px?s=65605&d=103&p=1 and wondering what sort of modification it will need to install on my car as per note in listing "originally made for 86-87 models with 2nd design master cylinders, but it can easily be fit to all Fieros with minor modifications." Anyone have any experience with this? I assume maybe the master cylinder outlet is in a different place as they are different in '86-'88 in metal used and reservoir position? Should I upgrade to the later model master for longevity (did GM change it for a reason like so many other components on our cars)?

Thanks!

The difference is in the Master Cylinder. Nobody knows why they changed but my guess is they saved some $$. The line would have to be re-bent to attach to a new location. Both Master Cylinders seem to work fine. Do you need to replace your line? you might find this page useful:

Good luck rebending stainless line....
The difference is the location of the line hookup point on the master cylinder..

Mine was re-bent. Was not a big deal.
The only difficulty that I've had is that the loop is a little bit too high to get a good gravity bleed started. (I finally got it started with a vacuum pump, and the gravity bleed worked fine, after that.)
