While under the car today I noticed a loose red wire with a large round terminal connector on it. Upon further inspection I also found a smaller purple wire coming out of the same bundle that was not connected to anything either. These are run along the front injector rail. They look like they should be connected to something...

Ok, I just traced the big red wire back through the harness to the bottom of the alternator, "S" is what's labled on the connection so I assume starter? It's possible I didn't connect it when I changed out the starter to the Allente starter. Still trying to track down the purple one.

The rest of the connections on the alternator are: The single pole on the top of the backside has a red wire going to the terminal block under the C-500 and from there it goes to the battery connection on the back of the starter. Should the red wire I found go to the battery connection of the starter?

sounds like starter connections, purple usually comes from the neutral safety switch...

Purple - Starter solenoid

Big Red - Starter battery cable connection - Connects to the output of the alternator on the other end. There is also the little pigtail that runs to the S (battery sense) terminal of the alternator's connector.

Thanks Phonedawgz. It looks like the reason I didn't connect it was due to the Allente starter terminals being farther away from the harness than the stock 4.9 starter. I lengthened the red wire and connected it.
